Leaders in the social service sector spend a lifetime finding ways to help others in various roles. Most of those roles were already defined and required straightforward levels of education, training, and experience. But as leaders progress in their careers and wonder what’s next, defining and getting to your, “Second Act,” can feel daunting and unclear.

This two-hour virtual workshop will help senior-level managers and executives to begin the process of designing a life beyond their current full-time work commitments. Participants will build the skills used by design engineers to envision a life’s work that aligns their core values with work activities that give them energy and meaning. This workshop acknowledges that, with your many gifts, talents, experiences and interests, there are multiple ways you can continue to serve. Quite possibly ways you have never imagined.

This free summer workshop is sponsored by the Social Current Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) and Bader Philanthropies.

Participant Preparation

A short one-page personal reflection is due to the instructor before this webinar. Complete instructions for this assignment will be provided upon course enrollment. The goal of this exercise is to begin increasing your clarity and ability to live a more coherent life as you think about your Second Act.

Participants will write a short reflection about their workview and lifeview and describe how these two complement each other.

  • Workview. The critical issues related to what work means to you.

  • Lifeview. What matters most to you. What your definition to what have been called, “the matters of most concern?”

This exercise is due via email to the instructor by Wednesday, August 3rd.
